Since 2011, PT Shan has been working with the geriatric population. Not a day is spend "working" because every day as a Physiotherapist is filled with joy, fun and laughter during therapy sessions with her clients and their caregivers. In 2019, PT Shan is certified as an Eden Associate (Aus, NZ).
Her interest in Stroke rehab has led PT Shan to be one of the handful clinicians in Singapore to be Neuro-Development Treatment (USA) certified since 2013. Her pragmatic approach focuses on recovering function. Recognizing the importance of counselling in affecting change, PT Shan is trained in Motivational Interviewing since 2015.
Being a proactive learner, PT Shan has obtained a diploma in Healthcare Tuina in 2020. She incorporates this branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine that uses manual technique over acupoints to relief pain and facilitate wellness. This hybrid approach using both Western medicine and TCM concepts aims to augment effectiveness of therapy.
Having been through the healthcare system from hospital inpatient, day rehab centre outpatient to home setting, PT Shan often sees clients at their end of life. Contrary to what most believes that "one can't do much for the dying", PT Shan sees value in making a death wish come true, facilitating difficult conversation amongst love ones, providing comfort care, providing support to care givers and family members.
